REMOVAL OF UTERUS: A PRACTICE BAD IN GYNECOLOGICAL HEALTH?

In several operating rooms , women between 35 and 49 years, are performed unnecessarily a hysterectomy (removal of the uterus), because they believe it is the first and best option for gynecologic abnormalities, regardless of the terrible consequences that could suffer.

The uterus is an organ of utmost importance not only for its reproductive aspect , but because is the support the pelvic floor , produce hormones that will help develop the menstrual cycle. Therefore it must exhaust all possibilities to preserve it.

It has also been observed in some patients that performed the hysterectomy, the ovary loses blood supply it received from the ovarian artery experiencing similar symptoms to menopause at an earlier age . Could also experience changes in sexual function because that the scar left in the vaginal vault and shortening of the vagina can cause pain during intercourse , also decrease vaginal lubrication for nerve damage blood vessels responsible for this.

For these reasons, when there are problems in the womb, should not always be removed , all will depend on the actual diagnosis , severity of symptoms and the skill of the surgeon. For fibroids (which is the most common cause of removal of the uterus) is sufficient remove the myoma preserving the uterus ; and in the case of prolapse, currently exist techniques such as the use of meshes that allow correct the prolapse without removing the uterus . In conclusion only the uterus will be removed when clinically necessary and is above the health and quality of life of the patient.
