THE USE OF CONTRACEPTIVE PILLS REDUCE THE CHANCES OF BEING MOTHER

The last congress of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Fertility (ESHRE) held in Munich, Germany; brought with it many developments, of which we highlight a study about the pill and its effect on the reproductive health of women.

A Research by scientists from Denmark, reported that consumption of contraceptives decreases the reproductive capacity of women. This alleging that the pill has a suppressive effect on two markers well-established of ovarian reserve, we talk about AMH (AMH) and primordial follicles.

Researchers told with the participation of 833 women 19 to 46 years who attended fertility evaluation and clinical advice on the hospital in the capital of Denmark between August 2011 and April 2014.

The analysis of the results revealed that measurements of AMH and primordial follicles were 19% lower in pill users than among those not taking the pill. In addition, ovarian volume was also significantly lower among 29% and 52% - affecting the group of women aged 19 to 29.9 years

However , this study is in its preliminary stage, and the results are important but not alarming , as the scientists themselves do not believe that the pill change the ovaries permanently.
